What is Reiki?

About Reiki

Reiki translates loosely from Japanese to mean ‘great bright light’ and ‘universal life force energy’, it it a method of energy healing through which this healing energy is channeled through an attuned healer to a person (or object or pet) receiving the treatment.

Everything in our universe is made up of energy (matter), that is continuously gently vibrating.

As we move through our day to day lives, and have potentially negative experiences, or take on toxins our energy can become dense, unbalance or blocked. Reiki healing is a process of clearing through the body with fresh, bright energy so that we can feel clearer, calmer, more whole.

What happens during a Reiki treatment?

During a reiki treatment we will spend first 5-10 minutes doing a consultation, we will discuss what your current strengths and difficulties are, what your dominant emotions are, where you are experiencing physical or mental pain. I will ask you what you hope to receive from the treatment, what shifts you are looking to make, and what you hope might shift for you in the days and weeks following your treatment.

Following this you will lay down on the yoga mat and I will ensure you are comfortable, with blankets, bolsters and cushions. I will say the reiki prayer, and then tap into your energy, performing a scan to see where any imbalances might be. Following this I will place my hands on, or above different energy centres and points in your body. I spend between 3 and 10 minutes in each area, depending on what you most need- usually this works it’s way down from you head towards your feet. Sometimes I will ask you to roll onto your front and we will giving healing to the back of the body, and energy body as well. Once the healing is complete I will disconnect from your energy, and gently ask you to bring movement back into your body.

Once you are feeling more awake, I will invite you to share any experiences- such as sensations or visuals that you had during the session, and then share with you if there were particular things I noticed - sometimes I will offer suggestions of exercises or practises that will support you.

I always recommend clients drink a lot of water after a treatment to support the cleansing process.

What my Reiki Clients say:

‘I felt very safe being vulnerable with Bea and trusted that I was in good hands. What I valued most was that I felt so incredibly grounded and relaxed after each session which obviously had a knock on impact of how I went about and experienced the rest of my day, the best part was this compounded over time and I noticed things flowing easier in my personal life’

Reiki testimonial

‘My favourite thing was the way that Bea related to me through energy and compassion, it felt like she read my own energy and channeled her healing into mine’
